So, because the connective tissue in my body is faulty, my ligaments (which are made up of connective tissue, and are designed to hold our bones together,) will eventually continue to fail. This is part of what can make this illness disabling. In order to combat that, I will need to basically strengthen my muscles to the max, because at the end of the day they will have to do the the unconventional job of holding my body (joints) together.
Ever since meeting with the ortho, I've been working on getting my action plan together, because I need to get super fit, BUT I need to do it mainly using non-impact exercises. I need to be athletic enough to compete in a triathlon, or in an ironman competition, because my muscles will need to have the strength to keep going all day long.
I've been told I'll also need a few surgeries, but that they won't be very effective unless I do the best that I can on my end. All of this combined with physical therapy and I should be able to live a relatively normal life!
Right now I'm just a bit overwhelmed trying to figure out how I'm going to manage all of the expenses of this (because it will be EXTREMELY expensive), and coordinate all of this around trying to be a stay at home mom to my young daughter (without being fortunate enough to have a lot of family support in the area.)
I do have a fundraiser set up, if you or anyone else you know can help in any way I would so appreciate it, you can find it here (feel free to pass it along):

Also, some wonderful friends were thoughtful enough to set up a Scentsy fundraiser for me. There's a lot of wonderful stuff to purchase and a percentage would be donated to me for all purchases made before the end of May. The link to that fundraiser can be found here (feel free to pass that one along also):

Stay tuned... my nest post is going to be about my quandary with unsupportive family who don't believe you're actually sick just because you don't look sick.... trust me on this one folks, it'll be an interesting one.
